Fees and Policies

Individual Therapy Fee

Sessions are 55 minutes in length; the fee is $185. Sessions are mostly offered in person, with some availability for video counseling through a secure telemedicine on-line platform.

Payment

Payment can be made by email transfer to laliapalacio@yahoo.com or credit card and is due at the end of each session. Receipts are available upon payment so that you may submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement, if applicable.  Requests for additional documentation or reports are charged at my usual hourly rate.

Insurance

Sessions are not covered under OHIP, however the majority of extended health benefits/employer benefits, do cover therapy provided by a registered social worker. I encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counselling services provided by a registered social worker to determine eligibility and approved rates of coverage.

As well, I accept the following private health insurance plans: Manulife, SunLife, Cigna, Green Shield Canada, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Medavie Blue Cross, and RBC.

Tax Credit

Canadians who access clinical services provided by social workers have the ability to claim these services on their income tax through the Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC). Visit www.cra.gc.ca/medical to learn more about claiming the METC.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

I require a full 48 hours notice for the cancellation of an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full rate of the session (including for no shows), unless alternate arrangements have been made.

Are your services confidential?

Your privacy is very important to me. My professional code of ethics, under the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, clearly defines that all information you share with me is confidential and will not be communicated, directly or indirectly, to anyone without your informed and written consent.  However, the law states there are rare exceptions to this rule, including serious safety concerns. We will review the confidentiality agreement at our first appointment.

How do I make an appointment?

Please contact me directly by phone or email for a non-obligatory phone consultation or appointment. You do not require a referral.
